Among our "online" members are:
- Our current chapter Publisher,
Jim Jelacic,
is also our Proctor Coordinator for IQ testing.
Also a regular newsletter contributor,
Jim conducts our ongoing Trivia Contest,
searches for stunning Puns,
and constructs entertaining Cryptograms.
- Bill (Ziggy) Zigo,
our Secretary and former Membership Coordinator,
is also our de facto social chairman,
especially if the event involves food!
He is a Games buff, hosting frequent
Games Nights at his home.
He also hosts a yearly
animation festival
[see Bill in his natural element],
and keeps his credit card company happy with frequent acquisitions of
animation videos, being a connoisseur of the pixellated arts.
- Tom Rankin
is a columnist for our newsletter, and was this site's first Webmaster.
Tom works as a programmer at IBM, and is active in sports and the local
Astronomy Club.
Some of his Astronomy articles appear in our
newsletter section.
- Barbara Neumann,
our newsletter's "Dear Miss Mensa" columnist, works as a
software engineer and technical writer at IBM,
and is an active member of
Toastmasters--
District 53,
Casperkill chapter.
- Michael Messina
lives in southern Orange County, on the fringe of our group.
His well-designed, visually striking home page
contains his prose and poetry, and some interesting links.
- Demetri Kolokotronis,
a Life Member of Mensa, lives in northern Ulster County. Demetri provides the Tools Column for Emazing.com.
Among his interests are:
- bicycling, road and off-road
- skiing, cross-country and telemark
(certified professional skiing instructor)
- tai-chi
- Eric Kollenberg,
one of our newsletter artists,
works as an equipment engineer for IBM.
He recently earned his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
from RPI, and has a very narrow range of interests,
including:
- Scuba Diving
- Juggling
- Humor
- Vegetarianism (lacto-ovo-pepperonio)
|
- Recumbent bicycles
- Electric guitar
- Science fiction
- And a few other things.
|
- Alan Hauck is another of our
contributing newsletter artists,
and this website's Webmaster from May 1997 until July 2001.
(For more examples of both pursuits, take a look at our
Marmot-Free Page.)
Alan is a retired programmer, and freelance illustrator.
- Immediately upon joining,
Jackie Ferrara
began contributing wonderful cover art
for our newsletter.
- Rich Dennison
works for the Postal Service as Postmaster
of Cuddebackville, NY. He is also a
computer trainer for the USPS and
Webmaster for this site. Loves Woody Allen movies. He's also a proctor for our exams.
- Betsy Burke,
who was our chapter's first elected President,
and is formerly the Region 1 RVC,
is a retired teacher in the Saugerties area. Here is her
Presidential Portrait.
Betsy's decisions are renowned for being
"arbitrary, capricious and final!" (Come to one of our
Regional Gatherings for an explanation of this.)
- Diane R. ("Ronnie") Brown
is our chapter's current
S.I.G.H.T. Coordinator.
(Service for Information, Guidance and Hospitality
to Travelers.)
Previously, she was instrumental in
our chapter gaining its independence from
the Greater New York Mensa chapter,
and served as Mid-Hudson Mensa's Local Secretary
(President) for the first six years of its existence.
A world traveller herself, she's also an active member of
the Sierra Club.
- Philippe Benthien,
an accomplished graphic designer and HTML author, has joined
our chapter while he visits here from France.
